Participants from the Senior High School Department shared their skills and knowledge during the Chemistry Quiz Bee held at Al Khor International School last November 3, 2019. The participants from the Senior High School department were James Miña of 12 STEM A, Earl Quilling, Oliver Soriano and Germaine Rentoria of 12 STEM C.

They, along with their respective coach, Ms. Karren R. Baac, traveled to the competition’s venue. The participants were first asked to formally register for the event and this was followed by the first elimination round. The first part of the contest was given in the form of a standard pen-and-paper test. In this, all of the students proved their determination and did the best of their abilities.

During the short break, the participants were given a chance to talk among themselves and share their thoughts on the said activity with students of different schools. As Philippine International School-Qatar was the only Philippine school participant in the contest, it was truly an experience for the delegates. “The experience was great because we learned information about Chemistry, and since their curriculum was different from ours, we got to understand and learn about the way they teach,” Germaine Rentoria says.

Although they did not manage to take the championship home, the participants of the said event trust that PISQ prepared well.

Indeed, these young minds strived to the best of their abilities and needless to say, made their Alma Mater proud.
