With the desire to showcase their exceptional voices, PISQian students and teachers stepped on the stages of PISQ court as they competed in the 6th season of the Choice: Search for the Singing Star. The Choice was held on the 26th of November 2019, the first day of the PISQ’s 19th Founding Anniversary Celebration to present the hidden talents of PISQians and to search for the singing star.
Organized by Ms. Nikki Joy T. Cruz and Ms. Mylene T. Casinillo, the competition gave light to PISQians’ talents. Pupils such as Johannes Macrea G. Garcia stole the hearts of the audience and judges. With the song “Beautiful In My Eyes” by Joshua Kadison, Garcia was held as the champion of Preschool Little Star Division followed by Liam B. Bangngagan as 1st runner up, and Zsopia Elysse B. Ganipes, as the 2nd runner up.

Angela Danielle D. Pabla, from the Primary Kiddie Star Division, and Loriz Arwen D. Tamayo from the Intermediate Shining Star Division, rose to the challenge as they both sang “Rise Up” by Andra Day and declared as champions in their respective divisions.
In the Primary Kiddie Star Division, Lenny Gabrielle G. Carmona won 1st runner up while Gabrielle Sofia S. Hubalde was announced as the 2nd runner up. In the Intermediate Shining Star Division, Veronika Blanca G. Millena held the title of 1st runner up and Brielle Ann Y. Salvan was declared as the 2nd runner up.

The audience showed their love to Leanne P. Gulmayo who sang Regine Velasquez’s “Ikaw Ang Aking Mahal.” Despite the technical difficulty with the music, Gulmayo continued to sing and eventually hailed as the champion for Junior High Campus Idol, followed by Patrica May A. Castelltor as the 1st runner up and Kiana Nicole S. Hubalde as the 2nd runner up.

“Pinili ko ang kantang ito hindi dahil may pinaghuhugutan ako, dahil inaalay ko ito sa mga may minamahal at pinalaya ng pagmamahal,”  these were the words of the Senior High Campus Idol Champion, Julia Louise E. Santos after performing her rendition of Adele’s “Someone Like You.” With her passion and remarkable talent, Santos captured the attention of the judges. Sants was followed by Jilleane Mae A. Deang (1st runner up) and Aaron Lance R. Manalo (2nd runner up).
The competition, however, did not end there as the teachers also participated in the Choice. With Gary Valenciano’s “Sana Maulit Muli,” Mr. Daniel A. Paduit and Ms. Baby Lyne M. Jacobo performed exceptionally and soon found the championship trophy for the Singing Duo Superstar in their hands. Mr. Art Christian V. Dimla and Ms. Marilou A. Fuderanan claimed the title of 1st runner up while the team of Ms. Edna R. Mendoza and Ms. Geraldine B. Cornelio won the 2nd runner up title.

Overall, the participants performed with all of their hearts, exceeding the expectations of the audience and judges. It only shows how truly talented the PISQians are and how they do not have only remarkable minds but remarkable voices as well.
