Blue Phoenix fall short to Xpats but redeem themselves as they nail ASD in a friendlies match on their opponents' home ground during the 18th and 25th of October.

October 18 - PISQ's Blue Phoenix arrives on the grounds of American School Doha with one goal in mind - to win and to have fun. The weather is perfect with passing clouds, and the players are warmed-up and determined. This determination carries them to their first set against the Xpats with the first set ending in a tight 25-21, with the Blue Phoenix falling short by four points.

The final set proved to be a struggle for the Blue Phoenix despite their confidence after the first part of the game with the last set resulting in a 25-19. The game ends with the Xpats claiming victory.

A friendlies match with ASD on October 25 held a much different fate for the Blue Phoenix. The game took place in the former's school with increasing intensity in each set. Once again, PISQ gained the first victory with the score of 25-22. ASD caught up by ending the second set with an even tighter score of 25-23.

Both teams gave their all with the first two sets being proof of their incredible skills that brought them neck-to-neck at one point of the game, but with their final efforts, the Blue Phoenix won the friendlies match with a 15-10. "We could've lost," Says setter, Mark Funilas, "but because of everybody else's cheers, we continued the fight and told ourselves that as long as the ball doesn't touch the ground, the game shall continue."

The same victory could not be said for the girls, though, as they lost in both matches against the Xpats and ASD, but coach Khally Patalud states that through the experiences gained from their training and games, they will learn; and from that, they will continue to grow.
