Many teenagers are met with the dilemma of selecting a university to invest their time and money into. With such a heavy burden of choice placed on students, it makes it near impossible to choose a university from the extremely large selection of universities in the world. The Senior High School of Philippine International School of Qatar have been with this challenge, however, the school has a plan of action to deal with this problem through frequent career and university talks. However with over 15 universities and limited financial flexibility, how could we guarantee that we get the university that’s both cheap and worth it’s time in cost?
As such, here are the top 5 cheapest universities to consider if costs are what you’re worried about.
5. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University : A well regarded university that only costs QAR 56,000? As of 2019, the university ranks 19th in Asia by THE, 8th in young universities, and 91st internationally by QS. WIth rankings like these and fair price why is it fairly low on the list? There have been recent protests as tensions in Hong Kong start to rise, while it has the bang for its buck if safety isn’t guaranteed. More often than not it’s a gamble on whether to study there.
4. Ateneo De Manila: QAR 10,000. Ateneo had become a staple in Philippine Universities. Rising to #601-650 rank range this year, up from last year's #651-700, Ateneo continues to be a powerhouse and for a fairly affordable price when considering the cost in riyals. However there are other more affordable substitutes to Ateneo.
3. Malaysian Universities: QAR 8,000 - QAR 6,000. Malaysian universities are an interesting inbetween. It rivals Qatar’s Education City in terms of quality of education, so why isn’t it higher on the list? The costs of sustaining oneself in Malaysia is the kicker. From housing, to visa. There are a lot of steps to fully transfer to Malaysian universities. However, these universities are quite formidable for it’s a “bang worth its buck”.
2. De La Salle Medical: QAR 5,000. Medical students are a widespread desire for a majority of the Philippine Youth, this university offers courses within that field at quite a cheap price. It’s considered one of the best medical universities in the Philippines so it should be no surprise that it’s pretty high on the list. However, the number one cheapest school goes to...
1. University of Santo Tomas: QAR 4,300. A consistent of the top tens is the University of Santo Tomas. It’s a medical university that rivals De La Salle but at a much cheaper price. If costs are the biggest concern for students, then UST offers the best of the cheapest.
In the end, no matter what university anyone chooses, education is still a worthwhile investment to apply to everything. Withholding the application to other universities is a fruitless endeavor. The more choices that are available to you when you graduate, the better.
