The SHS Department venture out on a quest as they celebrate Math Day at PISQ on September 17, 2019.

This year's Math Day was organized by the Mathematics teacher, Mr. Mike Edison Pioquinto and the members of his Math Club, Sigma Prime. The group came up with the theme MATH QUEST 2019: “Enriching Lifelong Skills Across the Spectrum of Mathematics”. There were several contests done such as the Battle of Math-Tiniks, E-Mortal Kombat, Mathematics Dance Challenge, Mind Master Match, Math Engineering Challenge, Math-Talino Investigation, and Math Legend 5v5.
The day started with an opening ceremony held at the NKP Playroom and supervised by the Masters of Ceremony: Germaine Armielle Rentoria and James Friedrich MiƱa. The school principal, Mr. Jason Iyas welcomed the students through his motivational speech. The rules and mechanics for every contest were explained by Mr. Pioquinto before officially launching the event. As a form of an ice breaker, the Sigma Prime members also performed a short intermission number.
The E-Mortal Kombat happened soon after the opening ceremony ended. It was then followed by the Math Legends 5v5, Battle of Math-Tiniks, Mind Master Match, Math Engineering Challenge, and the Math-Talino Investigation. These contests were held at different venues inside the PISQ Campus. The Math Dance Challenge, the last contest for the day, was held at the NKP Playroom. When all the contests were finished, the awarding of winners happened. Different sections were able to win at the variety of contests that they participated in.  In each contest there were different sections who were able to win. HUMSS 11-A won in the Mathematics Dance Challenge. STEM 11-B won in the Mind Master Match. STEM 12-A won in the Math-Talino Investigation. STEM 12-B were able to win the E-Mortal Kombat and Math Engineering Challenge. STEM 12-C won in the Battle of Math- Tiniks and Math Legends 5v5. The overall champion for the SHS MATH QUEST 2019 was STEM 12-C. The 1st Runner Up was bagged by STEM 11-B and the 2nd Runner Up by the STEM 12-B. The event came to an end as students returned back to their classrooms.

The president of Sigma Prime, Jiahe Nathalia L. Bautista was interviewed regarding the event:
As the president of Sigma Prime how did you and your fellow members prepare for the Math Conquest 2019?

-”As a team, we prepared with love for this subject. It was hard because we also had other activities but having my members with me throughout the preparations made it easy and fun.”
