The guidance counselors launched a series of recollections for the High School Students, respectively from Grades 9 to 12. The events were held in the NKP Playroom of the Philippine International School - Qatar during the 1st and 2nd Quarters of the school year.
Each level had different themes. For the Grade 9, their theme is “We’re All in this Together,” for the Grade 10, their theme is “Love your Selfie,” For the Senior High School Department’s Grade 11, their theme is “Out of Your Comfort Zone,” and for the Grade 12, their theme is “My Vision of Success.”
The events all started with an invocation and the singing of the national anthems. Then, a jamming session was performed by Coach Pearl for Grades 10, 11 & 12. The KKCF Youth Fuse also performed a jamming session specifically for Grade 9.
After the heartfelt music sessions, the students were grouped and ice breakers were provided; such as, making the strongest tower out of straws, giving notes to others and drawing each other. The ice breakers developed the students’ teamwork and other skills in relation to the theme. The activity was followed by the introduction of the speaker who gave a talk regarding the said themes.
The speakers for the recollection were, Reverend Raul Eralino from KKCF who spoke to the Grade 9 students, Mr. Randy Briones from ENC who spoke to the Grade 10, Ms. Nina Rachel Reyes from ENC who gave an inspirational speech to the Grade 11, and Mr. Moses Mar Alejandro who gave an inspirational speech to the Grade 12.
After the talk, the students were again divided into small groups and each group had a discussion about what they learned and what they have reflected about the topic. After the discussion, the students were asked to take a survey about the session and the organizers of the recollection.
It was indeed a success for the guidance counselor team as the students enjoyed the recollection and learned a lot about their topics.
“This recollection was amazing I really loved the note giving, our little jamming session and the advices and talks that we had." - Amor Sanchez
"I understood what the sense of belongingness means." - Mariel Lycel Ramiscal Sarmiento
"I learned how until we won't move, we won't grow. Comfort zone does provide us the safety but it does not provide us the growth we need. As we continue with the journey in our lives, we need to accept change, to accept what's in front of us." - Julianne Caday
